Dylan Thomas Community School is a thriving, community-focused school serving the heart of Swansea. This is a school close to my heart, and I feel extremely privileged to serve as your Headteacher. Having spent 13 years as part of this school’s journey, I am incredibly proud to lead a secondary comprehensive that is, above all else, a happy, safe, and caring environment where every pupil is respected, valued, and welcomed.

At Dylan Thomas, we prioritise wellbeing and a positive experience for everyone within our walls. We understand that academic success is built upon a foundation of strong mental health and emotional resilience. By fostering a supportive culture for both our staff and learners, we ensure that our school is a place where people feel heard and empowered. My commitment is to provide high-quality teaching through an innovative curriculum that places students at the centre of our mission.

Our Values and Standards

We instil the traditional values that have long inspired education in Wales: respect, fairness, and personal responsibility. We are also proud to promote Cymraeg and our Welsh heritage, ensuring our students carry a strong sense of identity and cynefin into the world.

While we constantly adapt to the demands of an ever-changing world, we believe these values can only flourish in an orderly and settled environment. Consequently, I expect the highest standards of conduct, politeness, and personal appearance from all our students.

A Vision for Success

Our goal is learning for life. We are dedicated to breaking down barriers to success, ensuring that every pupil—regardless of their starting point—leaves us with the strength of character to lead a fulfilling life.

We prepare our learners for appropriate qualifications tailored to their specific pathways, ensuring their academic journey matches their future ambitions. Through community-based learning, we link our classrooms to the real world, giving students the skills required for leadership and employment in a global society.

Visit Us

If you have not yet visited us—or if it has been some time since you last walked through our doors—I warmly invite you to come and see our progress. You will find that a great deal has evolved over recent years. Please contact the school to arrange a visit; we would be delighted to show you what makes the Dylan Thomas family so special.

I look forward to welcoming you and your children into our community.
